NYC vs The Action Center

During a press conference Mayor Bloomberg stated the NYC was back open and back to normal 1 month after Sandy. The Health Dept and the NYPD shut down most of the pop up distribution and medical centers citing lack of license. Lead by Ms. Aria Doe the executive director of The Action Center the licensed facility faught a shut down for over a month. Ms. Doe said she feared for the lives of thousands of people they served each day. According to the 2010 US Census 65% of this dsitrict lived 200% below the poverty line. Ultimately the city closed the Action Center for 9 days citing the need for mold remidiation despite never completing mold remidiation throughout the rest of the Ocean Bay Housing complex. 1/2/13
