In the United States the streets serve as a tool for non violent protest and the application of the 1st Amendment. Over the past decade Syd has been documenting how the LGBTQ grassroots activists in New York City use the streets as part of their multi-prong approaches, fighting for basic human rights, access to housing, medical care and fighting against bullying, violence against queers, in particular trans women of color.
